Halloween in Connecticut: Places You Should Visit

There is no shortage of fun activities in historic Connecticut to celebrate in the spooky Halloween month. Its rich colonial history makes it one of the most haunted destinations in the nation. There are lots of creepy mansions, spine-chilling trails, phantom hotels, and uncanny bars and restaurants. The faint at heart are not left out of all the Halloween fun. There are also child-friendly events to have a less horrifying Halloween in Connecticut.  With so much creepy places to visit, indecision might be an issue. Not to worry, our guide will recommend a few places you should visit.

Museum After Dark

This is a surreal adults-only party in the galleries of the New Britain Museum of American Art. The galleries are haunted by grotesque creatures but that doesn’t stop all the fun with DJ zErP on the wheels of steel dishing out sick tunes. The party features live music, and of course, beer and wine to unwind within a creative environment. Tickets are sold for $30 each.

When: October 26th, 8-11 pm

Legends of Fear

For over 22 years, the Legends of Fear has been delivering screams to those who dare to walk its hallowed grounds. Walk the Hallow or take the haunted hayride and you will still end up crying for help. The hallow features The Haunted Hemlock Manor, Pine Hills Parish, Melon End Revenge Trail, and the Dark Harvest. The Legends of Fear Haunted Hayride takes you deep into the haunted forest with gruesome creatures waiting to play on your worst nightmares. Tickets cost for the Hallow and Haunted Hayride cost $25 each. A combo ticket is $45.

When: September 28 – November 3rd (Weekends); 7-10 pm

Great Pumpkin Festival

This is a wonderful outdoor event to enjoy Halloween in Connecticut. Admission is free and you get to unwind with lots of fun loving people. There will be a scarecrow competition and pie baking contest with cash prizes to be won. The festival also offers horse-drawn hayrides, face painting, demonstrations, games and of course, refreshments.

When: October 20th, 12-5 pm

Fright Haven

Fright Haven is Connecticut’s largest and scariest indoor haunted house with terrifying creatures lurking within its 20000 square feet expanse. It’s back from the dead with three all-new attractions. The Insaneitarium, Redneck Rampage and Spaz’s Nightmare in 3D. If you are not brave or strong enough to face the fear factor in the Fright Haven, tag a friend along. No one will be responsible for your feature nightmares. Tickets for each attraction goes for $25 each and $49 for a VIP fast pass at the door.

When: September 28 – October 31; Thursdays – Sundays (except October 29-31); 7-10 pm

Stew’s Spooktacular Dance Party

This is the perfect place for a family visit this Halloween and not encounter the eerie creatures that will haunt your dreams. Hit the spooky dance floor with your costume and have fun with the kids. Coming from a food farm, you can only expect the best of delicacies. The culinary team at Stew’s will offer macaroni and cheese, apple cider doughnuts, brick oven pizza, French fries, and chicken tenders. At the end of the party, each child will receive a special Halloween goodie bag. Reservations have to be made well in advance due to the limited spots available. Ticket costs $12 for adults and children aged 12 and above. $12.99 for anyone younger.
