The 2026 Connecticut fireworks season stretches from late June through mid-July, with several communities holding their shows on different nights so families can catch more than one. Here is what we are watching this year.
Pre-Fourth Warmup Weekend
The Barnum Festival's grand finale weekend kicks off with the beloved Skyblast Fireworks over Long Island Sound. Food trucks open at 6:00 PM, live entertainment at 7:00 PM, and fireworks at dusk. Free family event. Official Information
Branford's shoreline show launches at approximately 9:00 PM with a rain date of June 28. A local tradition with a strong family turnout and Long Island Sound viewing.
Middletown draws tens of thousands to the Connecticut River waterfront each year. Festival runs from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM with food trucks, vendors, and live entertainment. Fireworks launch from a barge on the river at approximately 9:00 PM. Free admission. Official Information
Thursday, July 2, 2026
Two viewing sites for one show, with fireworks beginning at dusk (approximately 8:00 PM). Vehicular access to Greenwich Point closes at 8:00 PM or earlier if parking capacity is reached. Official Information
Festivities begin at 6:00 PM with food trucks and live entertainment. Sunset is at 8:31 PM and fireworks are scheduled to begin between 8:31 PM and 8:45 PM. Expect heavy traffic and rolling road closures near the Shippan area before and after the show. City of Stamford
Westport's fireworks are a ticketed event, with tickets available through the Westport Police Department and the Parks and Recreation Office in June. Fireworks begin around 9:00 PM.
Madison's shoreline fireworks launch at 9:30 PM, viewable from most waterfront locations in town. Best viewing at East Wharf Beach, Surf Club Park, and West Wharf Beach.
Friday, July 3, 2026
A longtime shoreline tradition with fireworks launched from a barge in Long Island Sound at approximately 9:15 PM. Beach parking requires a Season Beach Pass or a Daily Pass ($50 per vehicle, credit card only). Daily Passes are limited to the first 350 vehicles at Jennings Beach and the first 50 vehicles at Penfield Beach.
The City of Norwalk is going big for America 250, with an expanded celebration running from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Live entertainment, food, and a dazzling fireworks display over Long Island Sound. The amusement park's signature Fireworks Over the Lake show returns for multiple nights during America 250 season. Fireworks at 9:30 PM on July 3 and 4, and 9:00 PM on July 11 and 18. Included with park admission.
Saturday, July 4, 2026 — America's 250th Birthday
Connecticut's flagship America 250 event and one of the largest fireworks shows in New England. A free 250th Commemorative Concert co-presented with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and guest artists begins at 7:30 PM. Fireworks launch over the Capitol building at 9:30 PM.
